Lotsa Lesson Plans - ART

Art Show and Sell
 Submitted by Beth
Every winter our preschool sponsors an Art Show. The parents, grandparents, etc. are invited. We have the show at night. We set up our preschool rooms to look like an art gallery. We get refrigerator boxes from an appliance store and spray paint them. After several months of saving a few peices of art work that the children have done, we have plenty to tack on the boxes. We even mat some of the work. We make other art peices and put them on the tables. Last year, we needed some extra money so we sold the art work. The prices were 50 cents and up. We made over $500.00. The parents and grandparents were so excited they were fighting over the stuff! We always have over 100 people come! We only hold it for about 2 hours. Also last year, we invited adult artists to come and "judge" the work. We gave every child a participation ribbon. It is a lot of work, but it is a lot of fun!

RECYCLING FILM CANASTERS INTO NECKLACES
Submitted by Lisa
You can make the cutest necklaces that can even hold things. We used old black film canisters with the lid to make spider necklaces.
You need
1 film canister per student w/ the lid
a string for the necklace
4 pipe cleaners / per necklace
2 sticker wiggle eyes / necklace
fabric paint
black duct tape
Each student starts by painting on  the film canister a face w/ fabric paint (mouth and nose) and sticking on the wiggle eyes. Let this dry. Later they bend their pipe cleaner legs and use the black duct tape to tape on the opposite side of the  face.  The teacher need to use a knife to poke a hole in the lid of the film canister and put the string through. Put the lid on and you have the cutest spider necklaces.
Instead of using fabric paint you could try paint pen markers and instead of using wiggle sticker eyes you could use white out and  a marker.
